Moms Fall Reset Prep: Daily Habits That Keep You Sane, Strong, and Sick-Free

If you’ve ever thought, “Wow, I really miss when I had the energy to do things,” you’re not alone. Fall is a magical time (crisp air, cozy sweaters, pumpkin spice everything), but it also has a knack for sucker-punching moms with fatigue, burnout, and every virus known to elementary school classrooms.

Enter: the Fall Reset.
But don’t worry, this isn’t some 30-day challenge that makes you feel like a failure by day 3. These are realistic, daily, I’m-a-mom-and-life-is-nuts kind of habits that support your body, protect your mind, and strengthen your immune system.

Because let’s be honest...you don’t have time to get sick.

1. Start Your Day (or end your day) with Magnesium (Not Emails)

Before you scroll your phone and start absorbing everyone else’s chaos, do your future self a favor and feed your cells.

Magnesium is involved in over 300 bodily processes (basically everything), and most moms are running low thanks to stress, coffee, and zero alone time.

Try this:

  • A scoop of magnesium powder in warm lemon water first thing.

  • Or 10 minutes in a magnesium salt bath at night if mornings are madness.

Bonus: Magnesium helps with sleep, anxiety, and… bowel regularity. Yep, we’re going there. When selecting your type of Magnesium to supplement with, there are 2 you should be aware of, and choose from:

Magnesium Citrate: This is often used as a laxative...so yes, it will possibly push your bowels along IYKWIM.

Magnesium Glycinate: Well-absorbed and gentle on the stomach. So this works well with sensitive stomachs (less bowel reactions...but can also cause constipation.)

Test each out, and see which works best for you...no harsh side effects to be worried about.

2. Walk It Out (Even If You’re Just Circling the Block in Crocs)

Movement is non-negotiable when it comes to energy, immunity, and your sanity. But that doesn’t mean you have to push out a HIIT workout in your garage while a toddler climbs you like a jungle gym.

Try this:

  • A 10-minute walk outside (especially in the morning).

  • Light yoga or stretching before bed.

  • Dance around the kitchen while making dinner (extra points for 90s throwbacks).

Movement moves lymph, reduces inflammation, and tells your nervous system, “Hey, we’re safe. You can chill.”

3. Sleep: Get It, Protect It, Worship It

Fall is literally nature’s reminder to slow down (unless you're a mom, in which case, Bless you). But deep, consistent sleep is your immune system’s secret weapon.

Try this:

  • Screens off 30 minutes before bed (or at least turn on night mode).

  • Take magnesium (see above! I take mine at night-works better for me) or sip herbal tea like chamomile or lemon balm.

  • Keep your room cold, dark, and phone-free. (I know. Just try.)

If you're not sleeping well, your immune system is basically texting you “new virus, who dis?” all day long.

4. Breathe Like You’re Not in Fight-or-Flight

Breathwork is the fastest, cheapest, and most ignored way to calm your nervous system...and yes, your immune system is directly tied to your stress response.

Try this:

  • Breathe in for 4, hold for 4, out for 6. Do this three times while hiding in the pantry.

  • Use a neti pot or saline rinse at night to keep nasal passages clean. Sexy? No. Effective? Yep.

And if your kids laugh at you while you hum exhalations like a yogi goat? Even better. Now they’re calm too.

5. Supplement Smarter (Not Harder)

Don’t go pill shopping like you’re at a wellness buffet. Stick to the basics this season:

Consider:

  • Vitamin D3 (especially if you’re not in the sun daily)

  • Zinc (helps immune cells function properly)

  • Vitamin C (we all know why)

  • A probiotic (your gut IS your immune system-best if paired with a prebiotic for proper absorption-Promix is one of my faves!)

Choose high-quality brands, and when in doubt, food first. Supplements are… supplements. Not substitutes.

Bonus Habit: Say No. Without Explaining.

Because boundaries ARE immune support. Every time you say yes to something that drains you, your body sighs and your immune system clocks out.

No is a complete sentence. And “maybe later” is a form of self-care. Use them generously this fall.

This Fall Reset Doesn’t Require a Life Overhaul

It just requires you to show up for yourself a little bit every day. A warm drink in the morning. A few breaths between chaos. A walk that starts as “ugh” and ends in “wow, I needed that.”

You don’t have to do it all to feel better. Just do something...daily. That’s the difference between barely holding it together and actually feeling like yourself again.
